Project Detail
The NHS Trust appointed CJ Design Partnership (CJ Design) as Electrical Consultant for the conversion of Arundel unit mental health ward at William Harvey Hospital. This involved converting to a new 10 bed Critical Care Ward and a 22 bed General Care Ward with doctors’ offices, examination rooms and WC/showering facilities.
For patients, staff and medical facilities a high level of electrical supply continuity and safety was vital. CJ Design achieved this by using an N+1 type 40kVA UPS system with 60 min autonomy serving the critical care beds via 6kVA isolated power supply units.
Each bed has a vertical bedhead services column. They house medical air, oxygen, vacuum, wireless nurse call system and blue panel mounted dual earth medical socket outlets.
Refurbished areas benefit from a new lighting scheme. State of the art LED luminaires use intelligent DALI lighting controls and smart scene setting plates. The emergency lighting system has automatic testing and reporting facility. All luminaires are tested frequently, and the client receives results via an email-based system.
